Tenerife has two airports, and for a holiday in the sunny south-west the choice is decisive for a relaxed arrival. Here is the essential info so you get from the plane to the pool without detours.
South airport (TFS), the first choice
Most direct flights from Germany, Austria and Switzerland land at Aeropuerto Tenerife Sur (TFS) near Granadilla. From here it is only around 20 to 25 minutes to Callao Salvaje, ideal. Rental-car stations are right at the terminal; the TF-1 motorway brings you almost to the door.
North airport (TFN), when the north calls
Aeropuerto Tenerife Norte (TFN) near La Laguna is used mainly for domestic and inter-island flights as well as some European connections. From there the drive to the south-west takes a good hour. Worth it if the fare is right, otherwise the south is clearly more convenient.
A rental car pays off
For most of the trips on this site a rental car is recommended, the island is large and the finest destinations are scattered. Booked right at the airport you are most flexible; at the house you can park comfortably. If you would rather not drive, an airport transfer or taxi also gets you to Callao Salvaje easily.
