Orca in the large pool at Loro Parque

An animal park of superlatives

Loro Parque

Penguins, parrots, orcas and lush gardens, a classic for the whole family.

Loro Parque in the north is one of the best-known animal parks in Europe, multiple award-winning and far more than a “parrot park”, even if that is how it began. On lushly planted grounds you meet penguins, dolphins, orcas, gorillas and one of the largest parrot collections in the world.

Penguins, parrots & co.

In “Planet Penguin”, real king penguins waddle through a snow-and-ice landscape while ice floes drift above you. Alongside, the colourful parrot shows and the free-flying macaws are among the highlights. Allow plenty of time, the grounds are large and lovingly laid out as a botanical garden.

Dolphins, orcas and the aquarium

The large pools with dolphins and orcas are among the most visited areas; in the tunnel aquarium sharks swim over your head, and in the reef tanks clownfish and surgeonfish glow in every colour. For children it is a day full of wonder.

Practical tips

Tickets are often cheaper online and without queuing. Come as early as possible, then you catch the first shows without the crowds. Sturdy footwear pays off for the extensive paths, and on hot days the gardens give pleasant shade. From Callao Salvaje you drive just under an hour to the north.

Frequently asked questions

Is an online ticket worth it?

Usually yes: online you often save compared with the box office and enter through a separate gate without a queue. There are also combined tickets with the Siam Park, run by the same operator.

How much time should you allow?

A whole day. The grounds are large, and with the shows (penguins, parrots, dolphins, orcas) and the aquarium it soon adds up.

Is the park pleasant in the heat too?

Yes, thanks to the dense tropical planting there is plenty of shade. Still, remember sun protection and water, especially with children.
